Live weather maps for the United States

Two instruments, both running on live data and both free to use in the browser: a lightning map that plots strikes as they are detected, and a rain radar that shows where precipitation is falling. Pick one below, or search your city.

The page shows now. The app shows next.

Weather24 keeps the same maps in your pocket and adds the part a web page cannot do: a notification before a storm cell or a rain band reaches you, plus a home screen widget.

Where the data comes from

Strikes are located by a ground-based lightning detection network, and the map keeps the last 10 minutes of them. Precipitation, storm cells and the hourly figures come from Open-Meteo model data, and the base map is built from OpenStreetMap. Details of every source, and what these pages deliberately do not do, are on the about page.
